Here are some of the questions we hear most often about our head spa and facial experiences.

What is a head spa?

A head spa is a relaxing scalp and hair-focused experience designed to help you completely unwind. Your appointment will include scalp massage, scalp cleansing, hot towels, cooling treatments, shampooing, conditioning, and relaxing hair and scalp techniques with and without special tools.

At The Skin Haven, we combine relaxation with intentional scalp care so you can leave feeling refreshed from head to toe, while also improving your scalp and hair health.

Is a head spa the same thing as a regular shampoo?

Not quite! A head spa is much more focused on the experience, scalp care, and relaxation than a typical shampoo service.

Your service includes a thorough, deep cleanse and conditioning, but also incorporates massage, natural steam, hot towels, scalp and hair-focused treatments, and other relaxing elements depending on the experience you choose.

Will my hair actually be washed?

Yes! Our head spa experiences include hair and scalp cleansing, double-cleanse shampooing, and deep conditioning.

You'll leave with freshly cleansed hair and a refreshed scalp. We do not provide haircuts or blowouts as part of our services.

Do I need to wash my hair before my appointment?

No! In fact, there’s no need to do anything special beforehand. We actually prefer if you come on your wash day. But, come as you are!

We’ll take care of the cleansing during your appointment.

Can I get a head spa if I have curly, wavy, or textured hair?

Absolutely! We welcome all hair types and textures, and are very well versed in every hair texture!

If you have curls or waves and want extra guidance with your scalp and hair, ask about our Curl Clarity + Scalp Reset option. It includes additional time to discuss your hair and scalp, identify areas of concern and confusion, and provide personalized recommendations.

Is this welcomed to men too?

Absolutely! We service both men and women. We believe anyone should be able to relax and treat themselves, regardless of gender. In fact, we have a service specifically tailored to guests who want a more masculine-centered service, called The Gentleman's Haven.

Will my hair be styled afterward?

Our head spa experiences are focused on cleansing, scalp care, and relaxation rather than styling. Your hair will be cared for and conditioned, but we do not include a full salon-style blowout or finished hairstyle.

If you have curly or textured hair, we can discuss the best way to care for your hair during your appointment.

Can I book a head spa with someone else?

Yes! One of our favorite things about The Skin Haven is that you don't have to relax alone.

We offer duo appointments, so you can enjoy your head spa alongside a partner, friend, family member, or anyone you'd love to share the experience with.

Our space has two head spa beds, allowing you to experience your appointments together. Just make sure you book the same length of time for each of your services.

Can I book for four people?

We can accommodate two head spa appointments at the same time.

For groups of four, we can arrange appointments back-to-back in two groups of two. We also have a waiting area where your guests can relax and enjoy refreshments while they wait.

What should I wear to my head spa?

Wear whatever you feel comfortable relaxing in! There’s no special dress code.

Because your hair will be washed, we recommend wearing something comfortable, though before the service, we do have you change into one of our cozy spa wraps, to avoid getting your clothing wet.

Will my face get wet?

Your hair and scalp will be thoroughly cleansed, so some water may naturally sprinkle on your forehead or face. We also apply a disposable eye mask over your eyes before the service, to avoid splashing, as well as to help block out any light, so you can fully relax. We take care to keep you as comfortable and dry as possible throughout the service.

Can I still get a head spa if I have extensions?

Yes! When booking your appointment online, please choose the "I have extensions" option. If you are booking through one of our providers (not online), please let us know before your appointment if you have hair extensions.

Some extension methods require special care around the scalp and attachment areas, so we'll want to make sure your service is appropriate for your hair.

We do recommend removing your extensions beforehand or coming in before your extension appointment to thoroughly experience all massage techniques and tools.

Can I get a head spa if I have a scalp condition?

It depends on the condition and its current state.

If you have an active, contagious, open, bleeding, or severely irritated scalp condition, please contact us before booking so we can determine whether the service is appropriate or needs to be postponed.

If you're experiencing ongoing scalp concerns, we're happy to discuss them with you and recommend whether a head spa is a good fit.

Can a head spa help with hair loss?

It can aid in hair growth! Though a head spa is not a medical treatment for hair loss, caring for the scalp and maintaining a healthy scalp-care routine can be an important part of overall hair care. Head spas can also help with scalp circulation.

If you're experiencing significant or sudden hair loss, we recommend speaking with a qualified medical professional to determine the underlying cause.

Do you offer facials?

Yes! The Skin Haven offers both head spa and facial experiences.

You can book a facial on its own or ask about available facials that can be paired with your head spa.

How early should I arrive?

Our building is equipped with an intercom to contact us when you arrive. Just choose "Call Tenant", and select "The Skin Haven" with your provider's name beside it, when you arrive! We will meet you to let you in to the next door.

How early should I arrive?

We recommend arriving about 5–10 minutes before your appointment so you have time to get settled and enjoy a calm start to your experience.

What happens if I'm running late?

Please let us know as soon as possible if you're running behind. We have a 15-minute late policy. If you arrive 15 minutes or later, your appointment may have to be rescheduled.

Because our services are scheduled around other guests, arriving late may shorten your service time so we can stay on schedule.

Can I bring someone with me?

Of course! We have a lobby area with refreshments, where your guest can wait, if they are not getting a service. If they'd like to receive a service as well, we recommend booking a duo appointment beforehand so you can enjoy the experience together.

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes! A head spa makes a wonderful gift for birthdays, holidays, bridal parties, Mother's Day, or simply someone who deserves a little time to relax. The digital gift certificates can be found on our website homepage, or you can contact us if you would like to plan a gift card pickup.

How do I book an appointment?

You can book your appointment directly through our online booking page, or through one of our service providers, by phone or social media. Choose the experience that sounds best for you, select your preferred date and time, and you're all set!
